[ He just about grinds his teeth. But - no. Not useful to get distracted with this now. ]

Riiiiight. I suppose that's why you sound like you've both fists clenched right now. Just pointing that out.

Looking forward to seeing you there, honestly, it's been too long. Just try not to punch Jeff for whatever it is he's done while you're there. Wait 'til after.

[ Ugh. Dammit. Mark tries to get his temper under control. ]

Yeah. Sounds good. Uh - when and where is it gonna be, anyway?

Oh, right - the first, sometime after seven-thirtyish I think. It's being held at the Iron Throne in Maurtia Falls.

[jacksonian]

Oh. Yeah. Sorry. You said the Iron Throne already. [ Irritably: ] I got distracted.

[wizzardly]

Happens. Quite often, in my own case.

Anyway, it should be a good time. [gods, he hopes.] Only, I'll warn you I the food is all going to be vegetarian. I plan to eat before I go, personally. Just to be safe.

[jacksonian]

[ Mark's reaction is perhaps a bit disappointing. He shrugs, mildly - ] Oh. Good. Honestly, I don't much like how they kill animals here. I've put some money into trying to develop vat-meat production, but it's slow going. Who's the caterer?

[wizzardly]

[vat... meat...? Rincewind weighs the benefits of learning what that is against the risk of a possibly lengthy and technical explanation, and decides not to ask.]

Mr. March is taking care of that bit. He runs a hotel in the same city, if you haven't met him yet.

No, I haven't. He's catering it himself? A hotelier?

[wizzardly]

I've no idea. He just put on such a good buffet for his own opening night, I thought he'd be best to handle this one. He's bringing the music as well. He's... enthusiastic. About those sorts of things.

[jacksonian]

[ A grunt. ]

Does enthusiastic mean I should avoid him?

[wizzardly]

Depending on how tired you are. He's charming and all, but there's a lot of energy there, certainly.

I don't really care for energy.

[wizzardly]

Watch for the man with the small mustache then.

Thanks. I'll avoid him.

And I guess if he did a good job before, I won't suggest caterers or anything. Though there are a few good vegetarian ones I know of down in De Chima.

Really? I didn't know you knew those sorts as well. In addition to the money-handling sorts, I mean. And security sorts, I suppose, since your brother has that whole business.

[jacksonian]

Uh - [ That was a lot of "sorts." ] Vegetarians, you mean?

[wizzardly]

Oh, no, business-people I meant more like.

[jacksonian]

Oh. Yeah. Of course I do. I have corporate events.

[ A slightly embarrassed pause - ]

And, uh...You know. That house in De Chima. There are a lot of people there. It's hard to keep everyone fed. So we pay for catering a lot.

[wizzardly]

I'm surprise your lot doesn't just have personal chefs for that private army of yours. You'd think Miles would have recruited someone by now. Run into someone with food-based powers, maybe.

[jacksonian]

[ Just a little forcefully: ]

I found someone, actually. But he's only part-time.

You're doing that as well now?

Yeah. I help out the household. [ With a defensive sort of pride - ] They'd have a really hard time of it without me.
