wizzardly: Just consider it? Just for a moment? (I don't suppose you'd just let me go?)

From Chilton. Apparently someone came after him?

[ Okay. Good. Good old Rincewind. Easy to predict. ]

With what, exactly? I didn't get the whole story.

[ Mark sounds convincingly dubious when he asks - ]

You? That's weird. Did you know this Arthur guy before that?

[personal profile] jacksonian 2016-10-27 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
And he asked Dr. Chilton? I didn't even know they were friends.

voice; also after Chilton yells at Rincewind

You've made quite the mess of things. I would almost be impressed by your talent for this, if I had not been dragged into these matters.

You're right. I don't believe you. But I will give you the benefit of the doubt in that it may not have been intentional. I'm fairly certain you do not have that much of a death wish.

[ 'Arthur' is capable of hypnosis, after all. They very clearly saw that on the surveillance video. ]

This spy who called himself Arthur came of his own volition. He admitted that much. But he also confessed it was you who planted the seed, that you told this very dangerous man I was dangerous. And now this dangerous man has every reason to target Dr. Chilton once again -- if not for more information, then surely for revenge. So I need to know who he is.

Do you think a spy would be that idiotic to show his face on the network? I am almost certain all the communications he has are private, if he even has them at all. So for right now, you are the only lead we have.
baetiful: ([ 40 ])

Less to do with his capabilities and more with factors he did not foresee.

[ Petyr wouldn't discredit the spy. Or his makeshift group. Even if he wishes Jorah would kill more people sometimes. ]

But it is funny. You saying you cannot help. As though I actually gave you a choice.

[ This is where Petyr takes a gamble. If Rincewind truly is innocent, then the threat probably won't take. But if he's not -- then Baelish will have something to dangle over him. ]

Don't I? I happen to have it on good authority that you've been linked to a few missing natives.

[ Surely the man-eating luggage has eaten a man or two in its time here. Surely. And even if Rincewind hasn't seen it happen, perhaps this will prickle at the edges of his paranoia. ]

Hah. I've noticed.

Not a fan of Baelish?
jacksonian: (looking down)

[personal profile] jacksonian 2016-10-27 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I can't tell you about that.

[ He says that a little shiftily. Because, well, Chilton handed him a good explanation for being shifty. It's about the surprise party that Chilton's not supposed to know about. So: shiftiness.

Mark feels a pang of guilt. He's being...dishonest. Manipulative. He doesn't like doing it. ]

How's, uh - How's he a bastard?
jacksonian: (brooding)

[personal profile] jacksonian 2016-10-28 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
You'll find out why not. Eventually.

[ If he were Miles, he would leap to Illyan's defense. Execution of duty, not bad just doing what he had to, all that. Mark, however, is very much not Miles, and so he rather agrees with Rincewind's assessment. Simon did deserve quite a lot. In general.

That said, Mark was absolutely going to try to haul his ass out of the fire. Because that's what you do. ]

Anyway, it sounds like this spy - or whatever he is - he's working against Baelish too, right? I'd think you'd be in favor of that.
